A 20 minute PowerPoint presentation can have as many or as little slides as you want. In the "Slide Show" menu select "Slide Transition" and there you can set how long each slide stays on screen for. You can set a separate time to each slide or one time to all slides. After you have decided how long each slide should be on screen a little basic maths will tell you how many slides you need.

How many slides depends on your presentation. Not knowing what the content of your presentation is, what your displaying and at what pace your going at, I don’t think anyone can answer your question!
My suggestion would be to do an outline, figure out what you want to present and do a rehearsal with a friend that can time you and you can tweak stuff from there…

it really depends on the type on things like what your presenting, the speed you present it etc. there really isn’t a definite amount. good luck

Well, it actually depends on how long a person will stay on a single slide. This factor could change depending on the content and information in each slide that are presented.

If that’s 1 min/ slide then it will take 20 minutes to present those 20 slides. If it’s 5 min/ per slide then needless to say, it will take 20 minutes to present those 4 slides.

Of course, you should also consider that this is not always true. What if you spend 1 minute on a slide and 5 minutes on another? I recommend that you first organize the information that you need to present, put them in the slides, and distribute the 20 minutes accordingly. After this, do some more adjustments, prioritize the more important details, and rehearese your timings. Good luck!
