The trigger to move on the next line on a bullet point list, or the next slide, is something you can change in Powerpoint. Clicking the mouse or hitting the spacebar is just the default. You can set an automatic timed transition, but you should only do this if you are very confident of your own rate of talking. I’d recommend that an inexperienced presenter stick with the default, which is to wait until the presenter advances the slides directly. However, I always tap the space bar instead of clicking the mouse to advance the slides – it’s a much bigger target to hit.
